Master Degree in Law

Arie MOUT (Mr) has a master in law from Leiden University (NL) and graduated in civil law with an emphasis on commercial and advertising law. His professional introduction in Intellectual Property began in 1996 when he joined a major patent and trademark law firm in The Hague (NL).

In 2001, he became in-house Legal Counsel at SABMiller, the world's second largest brewer until AB-InBev's acquisition at the end of 2016. At SABMiller, first in Rotterdam (NL), and as of 2015 in Woking (UK), he dealt with all possible intellectual property aspects, such as setting up international trademark portfolios and developing IP strategies; licensing of trademark rights and royalty payments; commercialisation of trademarks, industrial designs and patents; defenses against infringement and IP negotiations. He was also responsible for SABMiller’s corporate services in the Netherlands and for IP contract management.

In 2017, Arie developed a trademark management model for Asahi Europe to manage the trademarks for the beer brands PERONI, GROLSCH, MEANTIME and ST. STEFANUS it had bought at the time of AB-InBev's acquisition of SABMiller.

He joined the PRONOVEM IP Group in Brussels as a European & Benelux trademark attorney in January 2018.

Armand holds a master degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the University of Liège (ULg) and a master degree in intellectual property law and management from the University of Strasbourg. 

Active in intellectual property since 1991, he was senior partner in a major intellectual property law firm in Luxembourg before joining Pronovem Luxembourg in 2011, where he became the Managing Partner in 2013.

He has long lasting experience in patent prosecution, patent invalidation, patent and knowhow licensing and transfer agreements as well as in IP litigation in Europe and overseas.

Armand also consults clients with regard to strategies, management and valuation of their IP rights.

Master Degree in Law 

Marianne STANISLAUS graduated from the Université de Liège (ULg) with a master degree in law.

She worked for one year as a lawyer in a financial institution and joined pronovem group (Liège office) in 1992.

She is member of BMM.

She is competent for all IP matters, including consultancy and litigation and proposes concrete IP « tailor made » solutions related to trademarks, designs, copyrights and domain names.

She also consults clients with regard to strategies, management and valuation of their IP rights related to trademarks, designs, copyrights and domain names. She is also designated expert before the Courts in counterfeiting proceedings.

She also focuses her practice on the review and drafting of NDA (non-disclosure agreements), patent license and transfer agreements.

Dorien holds a bachelor degree in Political Sciences (Ghent University).

She joined PRONOVEM MARKS in July 2016 to take up the duties of para-legal at the Dutch department.

She ensures the administrative follow-up of all Intellectual Property (IP) files for which she is responsible, in collaboration with an IP Attorney.

Her function of para-legal consists in particular

  • to have contacts with Intellectual Property Offices, foreign agents, administrations, internal departments and clients in the management of IP files;
  • to follow the deadlines of procedure;
  • to ensure the processing of mail and correspondence in collaboration with the IP Attorney;
  • to accurate encoding of data in the databases according to the evolution of the files for which she is responsible;
  • to establish the billing and encoding of the accounting data in relation to the various IP files for which she is responsible;
  • to manage the trademark watching portfolio services.

After having graduated as a mechanical engineer at the University of Gent, Stefan started working as lab engineer at compressor builder Atlas Copco in Antwerp, Belgium, where he stayed for four years, specializing in sound and vibration testing and modal analysis.

In 1997, he moved to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, still working in the same field but embarking on a more fundamental research project. Stefan started working for Pronovem in 1999, first as patent engineer and attorney trainee, and eventually as a European and Belgian patent attorney, after passing the respective exams in 2004 and 2005.

In 2007 he started working as an independent IP consultant, specializing in technical IP support : drafting patent descriptions and claims, replies to communications from patent examiners, Freedom to operate analysis, novelty searches, technical advice in litigation procedures, ….

He maintains close ties with Pronovem where he now works part-time as an external consultant, representing a number of Pronovem clients directly before the European Patent Office.
