Registration of Designs

Design Applications

Our trademark and design attorneys have a great deal of experience in preparing and filing design applications. We regularly file design applications with our “domestic” offices and use the Hague System to protect designs in multiple countries or regions with minimal formalities.

National and International Offices

We represent you in design registration proceedings before the BOIP (Benelux Office for Intellectual Property), the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office, formely known as the OHIM), the International Bureau of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), the Swiss Institute for Intellectual Property and the French INPI (Institut national de la propriété industrielle). For the defense of your design rights worldwide, we can rely on a worldwide network of carefully selected foreign agents.

We are a multinational team. Our trademark attorneys speak English, French, Dutch, Spanish and German.

Design Registrations Worldwide

We coordinate design registration proceedings and contentious matters in all jurisdictions of your choice. When you entrust us with your case, we enter it into our case management system. We coordinate actions with offices, local representatives, lawyers, licensees, presumed or confirmed infringers, etc. taking care to keep you informed about any developments that are of interest to you.

Keeping your design registrations in force requires the payment of renewal fees within certain payment windows. We monitor the due dates and advise you well in advance of the renewal fees that will fall due. Clients with larger design portfolios appreciate our yearly forecast that allows them to prepare the following year’s renewal budget in due time.

We take care of all formalities relating to your design registration proceedings. In particular, we record you as the holder of the design in the official registers. We also register changes in the person of the design holder, rights in rem, licenses, etc.
